I went to the clandestine meeting last night to discuss the theatre with two of the new "board" members and another concerned citizen. While some good things were discussed, I still think it is futile to try to do anything before the "restructure." Some of the points they are going to bring up at the "board" meeting are, in my opinion, totally unnecessary and can be construed as antagonistic. Why would you want to go in and for two months add fuel to the fire. I brought up my concerns and was over-ruled, again. This time by friends. Their choice. They are big kids, they can do what they want. I just think it is the wrong way to handle it at this point.
So, looming in the distance is the future of the theatre. After last nights "meeting," I have a new prediction. The new board will be comprised of my friends (most of them at least...because they seem to think that after the restructure we are going to make up the new board(s) for the theatre) and still nothing will change. Only people will change, but the same power struggles will remain. I feel this way because of one major point that was brought up last night (by me).
I stated something along the lines of, after the restructure, that might not be how it works. The three of them then informed me that after the lady who comes down to restructure leaves, then they (the new board comprised of them) will change it how they see fit. Um...no. That is not how it is supposed to work. The restructure is there for a purpose. Please...give it a chance without coming in and destroying it before it even gets started. One power play after another. OVER-RULED!
I'm willing to wait and I'm willing to do everything needed for the restructure. If I'm appointed to a position on the board (of which I have no chance in hell I'm sure), then I will try my hardest to stick to the restructured guidelines. The point of bringing someone in is to fix things. You don't undo something that has just been fixed so that you can have your way *sigh*

I realized earlier, I have read one play in the past three years. This is sad. I should be reading plays all the time, this is my expertise. So I decided to start reading plays again. Simple, right. I say to myself, "Read a play a week. That is reasonable." HA! I journeyed to our wonderful (insert tons of sarcasm) library to get some plays (and there were six other books on my list). The few plays they actually have, I've read all but one (I checked it out). They do have many anthologies (of which I've read most of them). Grrrr....so much for reading a play a week unless I feel like forking over ten bucks a week to Dramatists. I'm so frustrated with our library. I realize I live in a small town. I realize they don't have a lot of money. What I don't understand is why they can't acquire the items I want through ILL...I just don't get it.
The other six books on my list? Yeah...they didn't have those either *sigh* I wish I lived in a town with a real library. I also went to get some graphic novels...I should have known that was a joke. I guess I'm just going to have to go in every week or so and request the same books over and over and over and maybe they'll get off their butts and ILL them for me.
